Getting Started FAQ's -
Uploading pages, setting up email, etc.
1. How do I create my webpage?
To build a website, we suggest learning HTML code
or using one of the commercially available HTML editing programs (Allaire
Homesite, Adobe Pagemill, FrontPage, Claris Homepage). We also offer page design
and development services. For more information, e-mail service@siteleader.com.
2. How do I get my webpages to appear on
the internet?
Once you have signed up for one of our hosting
plans, you can "upload" your website using a fun little tool called
FTP (file transfer protocol). FTP allows you to transfer the pages you have
created on your computer over to our internet servers. If you don't have FTP
software we can assist you in obtaining it for free. If you are a Microsoft
FrontPage98/2000® user, you can use the upload option to transfer your webpage to
our servers.

here for more specific instructions on using Cute FTP. Click here for more
specific instructions on using WSFTP.
3. Will I have access to update my
website pages?
We offer unlimited 24-hour, 7 days-a-week access
via FTP and Microsoft FrontPage® in order for you to be able to update your
website as often as you wish.
4. What is dial-up internet service and
does Siteleader offer it?
Dial-up service allows you to use your computer
system to dial into an Internet Service Provider (ISP) on your ramp or connect
you to the internet in order to surf. Since we are able to offer you Premium
Website Hosting at very affordable prices, we don't offer dial-up service. You
are free to try some of the different ISP's such as Big Planet (www.bigplanet.com),
Earth link (www.earthlink.net), Prodigy (www.prodigy.net), etc.
5. Are there any restrictions to the
content I put on my page?
We do not accept sites with adult content. We
also do not accept sites that provide, assist, or disseminate any and all
information related to terrorism, hacking, phreaking, hate crimes, and/or
software piracy.
6. How can I add my new Web Address to
the Search Engines so people can find my website?
SiteLeader.com understands that promoting your
web site will be a critical factor in your success . Because of this, we have
affiliated with a service that will submit your web site address to the top
search engines (i.e. Lycos, Infoseek, Excite, Altavista, Yahoo, etc.).
We have decided to support and sponsor this
service so that we can provide it for FREE to all our web hosting customers. You
can use the service as often as you wish. We will e-mail you the URL for this
service with your Order.
7. How do I set up my pop boxes?
Setting up your POP email accounts can be done
easily by following these steps:
- You first need to go to your users control
panel, located at www.YOURDOMAINNAME.com/menu. You will need your Username
and Password. Once you have entered your username and password, you will see
a screen that looks like this:

- Click on the "add a new POP
E-mailbox" link.
- Once there, enter your desired email box name
(minus the @yourdomainname.com), a desired password, and then click the
"do it" button.
- We recommend against taking names like
"info" and "sales", as they are often already taken on
most of our servers. If you need to receive email by a commonly held
username such as "info" or "sales", create an email
forwarding account.
8. How do I set up my new email box in my
email program?
FORWARDING ACCOUNTS: Forwarding accounts, once
established, will forward email to the name you specify. For example, if John
Doe forwards info@mydomain.com to JohnDoe@aol.com, then John Doe would just
check his AOL mailbox as usual. This works the same with any ISP.
POP EMAIL ACCOUNTS: Pop email accounts, once
established must be configured in an email program (such as Outlook, Outlook
Express, Eudora, etc.) in order to work.
Your email program will require the following
information to get started:
- The "POP" or "Incoming
Mail" server name
- The "SMTP" server name
- The Email address
- The password
With Siteleader, the pop server is always just
"yourdomainname.com", and we do not offer SMTP service (you will have
to contact your local ISP for that information. Otherwise, your username is just
the name before the @yourdomainname.com, and the password is the one you
selected on the control panel. For step-by-step instructions on how to setup
your email in "Outlook Express" or "Outlook" click here.
9. How do I set up email forwarding?
- The first place to check is your control
panel. This is an administrative area designed to give you ultimate power
and control over your domain. It is packed with options and features,
including email forwarding.
- Your control panel is located at
www.YOURDOMAINNAME.com/menu. You will need your Username and Password. Once
you have entered your username and password, you will see a screen that
looks like this:

- Click on the first link, entitled "Email
Forwarding Addresses" Create your email forwarding addresses and
click on the "Do it" button at the bottom of the page.
